Red card, loss of points: Maneu’s nightmare continues

Football

In the previous match, Manchester United got the best shame in history. They were crushed by Liverpool 7-0. Perhaps they could not handle the shock of that huge defeat. Because of that, Eric ten Haag’s disciples were forced to draw goalless with Southampton at home on Sunday night.

Southampton is at the very bottom of the points table. The match was again at Man U’s home ground, Old Trafford. Manchester United deserved a win in such a match. They did not score there, on the contrary, the Brazilian star Casemiro was sent off after seeing a red card after half an hour of the match. Man United became a team of 10 people.

Casemiro’s red card coach Erik ten Haag said, “Casemiro has played about five hundred matches in Europe, never seen a red card. But saw the red card twice in the English Premier League! But it can happen.

Manchester United got only 1 point as a result of drawing with Southampton. The Red Devils are third in the table with 50 points from 26 matches. Arsenal is at the top with 66 points, Man City is in second place with 61 points.

A couple of chances were missed in the first half, with Casemiro sent off after a red card, but Man United tried to get a goal back. Manchester United could have scored at the beginning of the second half. But Bruno Fernandez’s shot went wide of the post. A shot from striker Marcus Rashford was superbly saved by the Southampton goalkeeper.

Southampton also scored. Team footballer Theo Walcott headed in from point-blank range. But Man United goalkeeper David de Gea saved that head with extraordinary skills. A shot from Kyle Walker hit the post and came back. That’s why Man U survived.
