Even the biggest Bangladesh fans may not have thought that it is possible to whitewash a team like England. After winning the series, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon frankly admitted two days ago that he did not expect so much.
Team Bangladesh captain Shakib spoke in almost the same tone today. Shakib’s straightforward words without pretense, ‘The series will be ours. We will win all the matches, I didn’t think that far. Actually, we wanted to play very good cricket.
Tiger captain added, ‘In all three matches, we have tried to contribute in batting from each place, to improve bowling-fielding. In all three matches, I think there was excellent fielding. That has (worked) for us, especially in T20s. Where 10-15-20 runs can make a difference, we have given a big tick mark in that place.
According to Shakib, the BPL performance has helped a lot. Staying in the game continuously has also helped to improve, believes the T20 captain.
Shakib said, ‘Those who are playing here, especially in the T20 series; Every player has performed in BPL. That performance certainly paid off. Since there wasn’t much of a gap after BPL, that has had an impact. Five-six batsmen here are top run scorers in BPL as well. Those who took the highest wickets also bowled here. That confidence actually exists. And since there was not much gap. Staying in the game has helped us.
